1964 Silvertone 1445 Speed Demon Sunburst

This 1964 Silvertone Speed Demon is in very good cosmetic condition. This old guitar shows signs of play wear and age throughout including finish checking, dings around the body edges, a ding on the back of the neck (see photos) and the white plastic strap button located at the tailpiece end of the body has been broken. Otherwise, this guitar appears to have been well loved and played. This instrument is all original with the exception of a reproduction pickguard that looks and fits great! The neck profile on this Speed Demon is a chunky C shaped with nice rounded fingerboard edges that feel excellent and very solid in hand. The original frets on this guitar show a little play wear but are in good shape overall. This guitar has received a professional set up and it plays like a dream up and down the rosewood fingerboard with good action, smooth string tension and good intonation. This guitar does not fret out or buzz - it’s a truly great playing example! The original single line Kluson Deluxe tuners are in great working order operate smoothly. The electronics are all original, have been cleaned and are fully operational. The three DeArmond “Speed Bump” pickups sound dynamite! This guitar is well suited for dirty old fingerstyle blues, clean jazzy rhythms, 1960s garage rock, quirky hillbilly stuff and reverb drenched soundscapes. This vibey old Kay built guitar is housed in its original case that is in very good condition (see photos). Most of these models were branded Kay or Truetone and I see far less of the Silvertone branded examples as they were only available from 1961-1964. If you are looking for a tremendous playing and sounding Speed Demon, this Silvertone branded example is among the finest that I’ve played.
