This 1990 Jerry Jones Neptune Longhorn is in very good cosmetic condition. This instrument has a paint chip on the side of the peghead and the finish on the peghead face has bubbled up a bit (see photos) This does not affect the playability or tone of the guitar and there are no breaks or repairs. There are some minor scratches on the back of the peghead and some faint pick scratches on the pickguard. Otherwise, this instrument is incredibly clean. The protective clear film is still on the electronics cavity cover plate. This baritone guitar has a great feeling slim C shaped neck profile that is exceptionally comfortable and easy to play. The fret wire is in excellent condition and doesn’t show any divots or heavy play wear. This instrument is set up with a new set of Stringjoy baritone strings, is tuned B to B and plays fantastic up and down the fingerboard. The electronics are all original, have been cleaned and are in perfect operating order. Both of the single coil “lipstick tube” pickups sound outstanding! I test drove this guitar through a 1964 Fender Vibroverb and was astonished by the array of great sounds that this guitar can achieve. Anything from incredibly pretty chordal arrangements to tic-tac bass lines to outlandish Spaghetti Western tones, this Jerry Jones Longhorn will absolutely nail them all. This example is housed in its original hard shell case for safe travels. If you are looking for all the cool tones, looks and vibe of a Danelectro but also want an instrument with superb build quality and outstanding playability, these Jerry Jones guitars are the total package and a must have studio companion. These Longhorn baritone models are not all that common and don’t pop up for sale too often so if you are looking for one to play, this example is an excellent choice!
