Good condition featuring double cutaway ash body, large multi-ply black and white plastic pickguard, single Guild pickup, one volume control and one tone control with black plastic speed knobs, adjustable top loading Guild BT-4 bridge, set maple neck,  34” scale, rosewood fingerboard with 20 frets and white dot inlays starting at the third fret, bone nut, Guild peghead shape, black peghead face overlay with pearl Guild and decorative Chesterfield inlays, Guild stamped open gear tuning machines, serial number AE100042 and Made In USA impressed into the back of the peghead, two metal strap buttons, chrome plated metal hardware, black finish and original rectangular hard shell case.

This 1982 Guild SB-201 bass guitar is in good condition. This bass shows signs of play wear and age throughout including heavy finish checking, multiple dings on the body and the back of the neck, finish wear from use, and belt buckle wear on the back of the body. The pickguard has been cracked at the output jack area and repaired using two extra screws (it’s very sturdy). The thumb rest is missing in action and the black plastic speed knobs are replacements. Both of the original potentiometers were completely worn out and non-functional so they were professionally replaced with new CTS units along with the original output jack (these original components will be included with the bass). There is an inch long gouge in the neck finish by the nut on the treble side. At first I thought it may have been a crack but after blacklighting the instrument I’ve determined it’s just a scratch which doesn’t effect anything but I wanted to mention it for the next owner. This bass has seen a lot of playing over the past 41 years and definitely has its share of scars to prove it!

The neck on this old Guild feels exceptional and has a medium rounded profile with a 1 5/8” nut width. This bass is extremely comfortable, easy to play and it just seems to fit the hand like an old glove! The original frets are in very good shape and have lots of life left. This bass has been professionally set up here at our shop and it plays outstanding up and down the rosewood fingerboard with low smooth action and spot on intonation. The electronics are in perfect working order and the original Guild pickup sounds excellent! This bass has an articulate powerful vintage tone with plenty of sustain. The Guild SB-201 was only produced from 1982 to 1983 so they are fairly uncommon and don’t pop up for sale very often. This one belonged to a nightclub owner from Chicago and appears to have been around the block a time or two! If you are after a unique vintage instrument with tons of character that sounds and plays fantastic, this 1982 Guild SB-201 is ready for action!
