This exquisite 2020 Gibson Custom Shop Murphy Lab 1959 Les Paul Standard is in excellent condition. This guitar has received the Murphy Lab “Ultra Light” aging treatment and the entire instrument has finish checking throughout and aged hardware. This treatment was done exceptionally well and is quite tasteful. The finish that Gibson is using on these instruments looks astonishing and, in my opinion, is by far the most accurate they have ever come to recreating the look of the old Les Pauls. These instruments just have a very nice “brittle” quality to the finish and the colors are really incredible as well. This guitar features a medium chunky “59” style profile that is hands down one of the nicest feeling neck carves that I’ve experienced from a “new” guitar in a very long time. This isn’t a "baseball bat" sized neck and it isn’t a slim taper - it’s just right in the middle with a very sweet rounded back and exceptionally comfortable fingerboard edges. This guitar is very hard to put down! The Historic medium-jumbo fret wire on this guitar is in excellent condition and doesn’t show any play wear. This guitar was professionally set up and it plays like an absolute dream up and down the rosewood fingerboard with low smooth action and spot on intonation. The Custombucker Alnico 3 humbucking pickups sound out of this world and deliver some of the clearest, most articulate tones that I’ve heard in a while. This guitar is woody and hollow sounding and it has a very clear tone from the neck position which I find can be pretty muddy at times on some Les Pauls. Clean or overdriven, this guitar totally excels in the tone department. Also, I just want to note that this example does not have any “binding bleed” which I have seen on many R9s and several of these models as well. This instrument is housed in its original brown Gibson hard shell case for safe travels and includes its original hangtags, paperwork, metal Gibson switch cavity cover plate and its original COA. If you are looking for an absolute stunner of a Les Paul, I don't believe there’s anyway to go wrong with this instrument.
