1956 Gretsch 6021 Town & Country

This 1956 Gretsch Town & Country is in very good vintage condition. This instrument shows signs of play wear and age throughout including some small scratches, a few small dings, some light finish checking, and wear through the finish on the back of the neck. The tuning machines have been replaced. The two pickguards are later replacements made by Chandler and the treble side pickguard is an addition as this guitar did not come from the factory with two guards. The original bridge has been reglued. This jumbo sized guitar has a straight neck with a slim tapered profile and a 1 11/16” nut width. This neck is very easy and comfortable to play. It feels very similar to a 6120 neck of the same era. The original fret wire shows some signs of play wear but has plenty of life left. This guitar was set up with light gauge strings and it plays exceptional up and down the fingerboard with low action and no buzz. This Town & Country has a unique tone that sits somewhere in between an archtop guitar and a flat top guitar. The tone is very dry with plenty of midrange and cut making it very suitable for closed chord sock rhythm, fingerstyle blues, jazz and rockabilly picking. This instrument would also sound fantastic on a microphone and make a great studio instrument. This 1956 Gretsch 6021 Town & Country is a truly unique and interesting guitar with plenty of charm and character that will surely bring its new care taker many years of enjoyment.
